DISRUPTIVE PATTERN

Disruptive Pattern was part of the national centenary commemorations of The First World War. We made two peices of work - a full-size recreation of the front room of a terraced house circa 1916 completley disrupted by Dazzle camouflage and a musical soundscape; and a digital film.

The project raised awareness of the many coal miners from Derbyshire who served in the Royal Navy. It was made from the point of view of a miner’s family and what happened to the pattern of their daily life when their loved-one was lost at sea.

The installation toured the mining villages of North East Derbyshire, the places where the miners came from.
